Yosselin Salazar
Marriage & Family Therapist-Associate
Hola I am the daughter of Mexican immigrants and the first generation of higher education in my family. As a non-native Houstonian I love trying new cuisines the city has to offer. I truly enjoy getting to connect with people on a deeper level and hearing their life's story. Especially with people who may feel they don't have a voice or a story worth sharing.
I studied at Sam Houston State University where I received my bachelor's in Science. I attended graduate school at Our Lady of the Lake University at the Houston campus. My approach to therapy is rooted in advocacy. I utilize Collaborative Dialogic practice, Solution Focused therapy, Narrative therapy and child centered play therapy to meet client's needs. I hope to be a guide for others by helping them help themselves. My goal is to guide others in becoming their own advocate to challenge any limiting beliefs, thoughts or feelings. I work with clients who may feel othered and have faced difficult challenges in life. I also work with clients who are in the beginning stages of identity exploration where therapy can be a safe and collaborative space to continue to explore who they are.
Outside of GHCS you can find me buried in a good book with my 2 cats when in need of some recharging. Or out and about with family and friends creating new experiences and memories. When I have time off, you'll catch me reconnecting with family as much as possible. Or spending as much time in nature to disconnect from life's busy and chaotic schedule.
I'm the therapist for you if you want someone who will stand with you in this transformative experience for you and those in your life. If you're open to growth, reconnecting with yourself and others then you've already taken the first step. I see you!
