Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist -Associate

Healing Begins with Understanding
Life can feel overwhelming when you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, past trauma, or relationship challenges. Maybe you’re a parent trying to help your child work through emotional struggles, a young adult navigating self-doubt, or someone seeking deeper connection in your relationships. No matter where you are on your journey, you deserve to feel heard, valued, and supported—and that’s where I come in.

Therapy Built Around You
I’m Kamaya Bogar, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist – Associate (LMFT-A) under the supervision of Cynthia R. Carter, M.S., LPC-S, LMFT-S. My approach to therapy is all about connection—understanding your experiences in the context of your relationships, your past, and the world around you. I take a systemic and culturally aware approach to help children, adults, and families work through challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem struggles, and attachment concerns.

Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, so I use a mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Adlerian Therapy techniques to create a plan that fits you, your needs, and your unique experiences. Whether we’re addressing childhood wounds, life transitions, or relational struggles, my priority is to provide a space where you feel safe to explore, heal, and grow.

Supporting Clients Through Every Stage of Life
My passion for helping others started in community-based mental health, where I worked closely with children and families navigating attachment issues and trauma. Later, my time in inpatient treatment deepened my dedication to supporting young adults facing life stressors, self-acceptance struggles, and the lasting effects of trauma. These experiences have shaped how I work with my clients today—ensuring that each person feels seen, understood, and equipped with tools to move forward.

A Little About Me
Originally from Minnesota, I moved to Texas to be closer to family and to explore the vibrant culture and opportunities Houston has to offer. When I’m not in session, you’ll find me taking walks with my dog, trying out new restaurants, or crafting—activities that help me stay grounded and recharge, just like I encourage my clients to do.

Let’s Create the Change You Deserve
If you’re ready to work through past struggles, strengthen your relationships, or build confidence in yourself, I’d love to support you. Healing takes time, but you don’t have to go through it alone.
