Dawn Scott
Veteran Trauma Therapist
Life has a way of shifting beneath our feet—whether it’s an unexpected loss, a major life decision, or the weight of past experiences that still linger. Maybe you’re adjusting to life with a disability, navigating military life, facing the realities of aging, or coping with grief that feels too heavy to carry alone. These changes can bring stress, anxiety, and self-doubt, but they don’t have to define your story.
A Whole-Person Approach to Healing
I’m Dawn Scott, an LPC Associate under the supervision of Aimee Rhodes, LPC-S. With specialized training as a Certified Grief-Informed Professional and ongoing certification in faith-based and integrated mental health counseling, I help clients navigate life’s toughest moments with resilience, humor, and self-compassion.
I believe therapy should honor every part of who you are—your experiences, your beliefs, your strengths, and even the moments of laughter in between the struggles. My approach is rooted in positive psychology and evidence-based therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Whether you’re feeling lost, overwhelmed, or uncertain about what comes next, I’ll help you reconnect with the inner strength that’s already there.
Redefining Strength, One Step at a Time
Strength isn’t about pushing through pain alone—it’s about finding the tools and support to move forward in a way that feels right for you. I work with individuals who are:
- Coping with disabilities or adjusting to physical changes
- Navigating PTSD and trauma, including military-related experiences
- Facing major life or family transitions
- Processing grief and loss in its many forms
- Managing the emotional challenges that come with aging
A Therapist Who Meets You Where You Are
Therapy with me is a conversation, not a script. Some days, we’ll focus on practical coping strategies. Other days, we may challenge old narratives that no longer serve you. And sometimes, we might just laugh at the absurdity of life while figuring out the next step forward.
I believe in creating a space where you don’t have to filter yourself, where all parts of you are welcome. Healing isn’t always about changing who you are—it’s about embracing the strengths you already have and learning how to move through life’s challenges with confidence.
Life Outside of Therapy
When I’m not working with clients, you’ll find me exploring new ways to grow—whether that’s learning, traveling, or embracing creativity in everyday life. Just as I encourage my clients to seek balance, I believe in finding joy and meaning in both the ordinary and extraordinary moments.
Your Next Chapter Starts Here
If you’re ready to find clarity, process what’s weighing you down, and move forward with purpose, I’d love to support you on this journey. You don’t have to have all the answers—you just have to take the first step.
