Veteran Trauma Therapist

Life can sometimes feel like a mission without a clear map—especially when you’re carrying the weight of past experiences, trauma, or the pressures of everyday life. Whether you’re a veteran adjusting to civilian life, a survivor of past hardships, or simply someone trying to rediscover joy and purpose, therapy offers a space to process, heal, and move forward on your terms.

From Military Service to Mental Health Advocacy
I’m Ciatta Spears, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, and my journey into mental health began long before I became a therapist. As a veteran with 10 years of active duty service in the United States Navy, I’ve worked alongside people from all walks of life, witnessing firsthand the resilience of the human spirit. My experiences in the military reinforced my belief that healing is possible, even in the most challenging circumstances.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland Global Campus and my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. During my internship at Family Violence Prevention Services, I developed a trauma-informed, person-centered approach to counseling. Later, as a Clinical Therapist at the Boys and Girls Club of San Antonio, I had the privilege of working with at-risk youth and their families, helping them build resilience and reclaim their sense of self-worth.

A Holistic Approach to Healing and Growth
I believe that mental health is deeply connected to our social, physical, and emotional well-being. My approach to therapy is holistic, meaning I help clients strengthen not just their minds, but also their relationships, self-compassion, and overall wellness. My areas of focus include:

- Trauma recovery – Healing past wounds in a way that fosters growth, not re-traumatization
- Veteran and military transition support – Navigating the shift from service to civilian life with clarity and confidence
- Depression & anxiety – Developing skills to manage emotions and break free from limiting thoughts
- Self-compassion & personal empowerment – Learning how to be kinder to yourself and embrace your strengths
- Relationships & communication – Strengthening connections, setting boundaries, and building healthier dynamics

Therapy with me is not about telling you what to do—it’s about walking alongside you, helping you reconnect with your own wisdom and resilience.

A Safe Space for Growth, Healing, and Exploration
I understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and empowered to explore what’s holding you back. Some days, that might mean processing emotions. Other days, it might mean developing real-world strategies to help you take actionable steps toward the life you want.

Life Outside the Therapy Room
When I’m not working with clients, you’ll find me traveling internationally, trying new restaurants, listening to audiobooks, or spending quality time with my wonderful husband and fearless toddler. Just as I encourage my clients to find balance, adventure, and moments of joy, I believe in embracing the experiences that make life meaningful.

Your Journey Starts Here
You are the captain of your own life, and I’m here to help you navigate the waters, find your direction, and reclaim your sense of purpose. If you’re ready to start the journey toward healing and personal growth, I’d love to work with you.
